Soma welcome back Italian techno producer Roberto Clementi for his 3rd solo EP in the form of the deep and trippy Promise EP. Roberto is quickly gaining notoriety for his quality blend of dub infected yet melodic techno. Firmly rooted in the underground, this EP boasts a fantastic remix from Berlin based Mørbeck, partner in the heavy Vault Series label and also head of his own imprint Code Is Law.
When Loves Clashes begins the EP in typical Clementi form. His undeniable groove is underpinned with spaced out percussion leading to a sweeping pad and near discordant melody. Clementi easily throws his deep production techniques into this track, always pushing forward with intent.
The original mix of Promise is up next opening with a filtered synth hook and almost jazzy piano line, setting a laid back tone for the off. Slightly reverbed sweeps open up delicately programmed drums giving an almost house feeling to this track. Clementi shows true feeling in this track with the pulsing and flowing melodies found throughout the body of this.
Møbeck closes the EP in fine form with his interpretation of Promise. A full on low end races though while sparks of the original synth flicker through. As the track begins to take off, fast paced percussion and deep synth stabs give this a much more darker feel than the original, taking it into more dance floor territory.
This is another well-crafted EP from Roberto that once again shows his versatility as a producer
