Already reaching into the third month of 2011 and Playaz has even more drum & bass from producers at the top of their game. After an immense 12' from Taxman, DJ Hype and Pascal prepare themselves to unleash a monster single from Sub Zero. Kicking this release off is 'Poon', a crowd-pleasing number that's been doing plenty of damage in Hype's sets across the globe. Stepping beats are underpinned by winding, warping and morphing bass notes that give fresh life to the dancefloor D&B formula. On the flip is a complete contrast that displays Sub Zero's effortless diversity. The muted reese bass and rolling rhythms of 'Brighter Days' could easily slip into an Autonomic set and provides a stunning departure into the deeper side of drum & bass. As the D&B scene morphs and changes, splintering into sub-genre after sub-genre, it's gratifying to see one of the scene's spearhead labels put their money behind a single that unifies two disparate sides of the coin. If we were French we'd be shouting 'Vive la difference!' right now.
