Fellow Essen resident Langenberg has made a huge impression over the past couple of years with his wonderfully deep and emotional productions on labels such as Sthlmaudio Recordings, Drumpoet Community and Dessous. Part of the Drumpoet collective, he has toured europe extensively, and this month releases his debut single 'Ideosami' on Liebe*Detail. Langenberg is without doubt one of the most exciting young talents of today. Both Tur and Langenberg are renowned for the quality and deepness of their productions. Ranging from the dubby depths to four to the floor house, their work has always been in that deeper realm. The pair have now joined forces as 'Ribn', not only as new live act, but also as an outlet for them to explore territory and sounds that may have been uncharted for them. Until now. With 2 releases and a remix already under the Ribn belt, for Millions of Moments, Styrax Leaves and Drumpoet, it is the turn of Ovum Recordings to deliver the latest. A three track EP which stands alone as a complete work of art. Opener 'KMD' gives us the first glimpse of the somewhat Cinematic feel that runs throughout the EP. A huge, yet discreet and euphoric piece of work. 'Cottbus', keeps the same vast ranging feel, yet has a darker, more powerful drive, with its moody synths and heavy drums. 'Plain City' takes us into the light again with its quicker pace, bright Detroitian synths and crisp hi-hats. It really does have the feeling of the sun breaking through the darkness of Cottbus. Already given the thumbs up from Groove Magazine in Germany, the 'Plain City E.P.' is a stunning Ovum debut for Ribn, and proves without doubt that the duo from Essen are wonderfully gifted producers.
