Vector Lovers tempts with yet more masterful cuts as a fourth studio album from Martin Wheeler’s relatively young electronica project lies on the near horizon. His last 12” got right under the nails of big names such as James Holden, Hybrid, Djinxx, Laurent Garnier and James Zabiela to name but a few and Ping Pong promises to cause much more damage. Lead track Ping-pong is a thunderous epic workout. At 10-minutes long it never loses pace with a deep, driving, cyclical bassline, sparkling synths and crisp snares it blends together to form a magnificently intelligent, well crafted piece of work. Pin Tweaks follows up with a climactic slice of electro-tech-funk. Keeping it fairly minimal on the percussion Vector Lovers keeps you begging on your knees with the cross-rhythmical looping synth line as it pulses in constant dynamic change. Reminisce finishes off the EP with a track that lives up to its name. A reflective finale, this tech-house burner closes the EP beautifully. The high-pads, twinkling melodies, and ornate beats make this a perfect choice of tune for welcoming those 6am sunrises.
