Silk Textures is excited to welcome back Hungarian prog-deep talent Faces, with a brand new 3-track EP. The title cut of the release "Other Way," may sound familiar to veteran fans of the imprint. Although it is a new cut, it includes some similar motifs from "One Way," the track for which Faces is most known. This upbeat "spin-off" includes a reworked, more resonant bassline and a more present and funky lead. Also, evocative and heavily filtered male vox, an artist signature, fill out the soundscape.
The second track, "For Them," kicks off with a quintessential deep house groove, centered on a cavernous bassline progression. A characteristically moody lead soon joins the mix, followed by a repeating male vox stab with a seemingly infinite "release." This foreboding sample leads the listener into the break, where a stunning female vocal combines with a gorgeous new melodic progression.
Finally, "It Seems" is an up-tempo affair, with a furious rhythmic swing. The groove is punctuated by another hollowed-out bassline, which sinks the listener deep into the abyss. Meanwhile, dark, outer-worldly pads suggest that something is lurking in the shadows. As to be expected, Faces reveals a gorgeous new melodic theme in the break, which is made even more "seductive" by a Sirens-esque female vocal sample.
