SOMA 20 YEARS [1991 2011]
Harvey McKay has emerged from Glasgows underground clubbing scene to become one of the hottest prospects in electronic music today. Having previously released on Perc Trax, 8-Sided Dice, Trapez and Soma, Harvey has had a string of successful EPs, including the dark, brooding Nightwalker and the jacking Shift (both Soma Records, 2010). Keep an eye open for his debut Saved release also.
For Occams Razor, Harvey delves heavily into an old school rave sound, with syncopated hi-hats and shakers driving the rhythm and jumping piano chords set against a rolling, rumbling bass line. Second track Work it similarly loses none of its early house credentials, with a deep, full, and aggressive kick, repetitive chords, pad swells and synth stabs.
Harvey Mckay demonstrates with Occams Razor a new take on house music with a controlled, abrasive, and relentless sound, fully showcasing his unique style of production.
