RHYTHMETIC 018
THODORIS TRIANTAFILLOU & CJ JEFF - NOT ONLY U FET. CHRIS TATCHELL
Rhythmetic label heads Thodoris Triantafillou and CJ Jeff are on one hell of a hot streak... Fresh off the back of the December's "Zougla" EP and its wonderful Phonique remix (check it!), the boys kick off their 2011 campaign in stunning fashion.
Release 018 sees the pair not only team up with the wonderful vocal talent, Chris Tatchell. But also welcome three of Greece's leading underground electronic producers, who all give their own unique take on the original.
CJ and Thodoris' original builds an atmospheric groove, where misty keys and cavenous percussion set the stage for Tatchell's commanding vocal. Like Jim Morrison taking the stage at Berghain, this offers a level of depth, drugs and substance rarely found in vocal house music.
First up is Roberto Rodriguez who builds an oldskool house jam around the Chris' vocal. Classic keys and speaker-shaking sub bass. At once both classic and cutting edge. Modern house music at it's finest.
The rework from Suedmilch is moody growler. Both tense and epic, he introduces a stomach churning synth that works brilliantly with the vocal to create a perfect late night festival smash. Expect to hear this from Glastonbury to Exit.
Finally we have Mobilee-man, And.id. Stripping things right back he reduces the vocal to an instant snippet that works with his punchy percussion to create a tight knit groove. A rock solid kick and techno keys make this a peak time bomb.
