Solium is soon to be one of heads of Tulipa Recordings' secret weapons division. Summer (Brendon Collins) stumbled across Paris Calling, which caused quite a stir at the beginning of the year, and requested an EP from its creator, the talented- but mysterious Solium. Nitrate is a hypnotic techno Behemoth. This is likely to be any deep-techno psychonaut's anthem of 2011. The magnificent Chloe Harris crunches up a tech-house version of the track that incorporates both groove and sophistication. Rich Curtis serves a confident version of Nitrate that includes misty atmospheres and gargantuan low-end. Calibrate utilizes deceptive piano keys built around a tough exterior. This track is a wonderful compliment to Nitrate. Solium also includes another gem- Nouveau-which creates an elegant and eerie vibe, perfect for set openings. Paris Calling, included earlier this year on Tulipa Recordings' Pedal One Compilation, ends the release with its blissed-out melodies and emotional depth.
