Romania's All Inn Records ready themselves for release #007, from Italian duo Summed & Dot. This will be their second release on the label, following their highly successful 'Jazzyman' EP. That release, backed by its excellent Massimo di Lena mixes, has been one of All Inn's strongest selling releases to date. Both 25, Palermo born Filippo Bologna (Summed) and Italian-American John Catalano (Dot) were brought together through their mutual love of electronic music. Seeking to further his musical enlightenment, Dot spent a year in London. Soaking up and connecting with 'Techno'. Now residing in Palermo, the pair have studied the finest tools of the trade and through dedication and persistence have found their sound. Taking the essence of old school techno, and preserving the grooves of traditional house, the pair are producing an ever evolving sound. Its that amalgamation of sounds and influences that is once again most evident on this new EP. Steering away from the smooth, soulful avenues of house, this time the pair explore the more stripped, sparse, mechanical sounds of the early techno pioneers to create the lead cut 'Alemagno'.
On 'H o T' the boys lead us deep into warehouse territory. Ramping the intensity with its masterful kick drum and open hats, the track matches dramatic strings and spoken vocal, with a warm, comforting synth line. 'Wanna Do' returns us to familiar house territory. Still very much in the school of old, we are treated to a barrage of machine-gun snare rolls and sample drops, all delivered brilliantly on a bed of snare.
With releases for Suara, Meerestief and All Inn already under their belts, and with this fantastic EP set to drop, Summed & Dot are setting themselves up as one of the hottest new talents around...
