Denver, Colorado's vibrant house music scene strikes again as hometown label Full Flavor Music releases a formidably funky single from local up-and-comer Armbar. Armbar is Mike Paolo (also known in the 90's midwest rave scene as DJ Paolo) who has previously released a series of well-received singles on Chicago's Look At You Records. Armbar's debut for Full Flavor Music is the Music Please EP, featuring a pair of original tracks and a stellar remix by Joshua Heath. "Can't Stop (Music Please)" begins with a low, filtered growl that builds with rhythmic vocal sample hits, reverb washed keys, and an insistent percussion groove. "Fatjax" comes next, bringing Armbar's Chicago influences to the fore with a decidedly jazzy house offering. Repetitive horn and vocal sample drops combine over a swingy beat to provide a dancefloor winner. Los Angeles' Joshua Heath (Salted Music, Golden State Recordings) revisits "Can't Stop (Music Please)" with an irresistibly bouncy bass line, some funky key work, and clever use of the original's vocal drops. The midpoint breakdown should be a DJ set highlight. Utterly smashing.
