Dubai-based imprint Audio Tonic kick-off 2012 with Miles Away, a collaboration between Egyptian producer/dj Raxon and Dutch artist Sebastian Davidson. Having seen support from MANIK, 6th Borough Project, Rub & Tug and Tornado Wallace for it last release, Audio Tonic are proof, if any was needed, that quality deep house and disco a labels aren't confined to European and American shores. Miles Away is a melodic, upbeat and shimmering slice of house that is light but punchy and very much dance floor focused. The remix of Miles Away comes from the irrepressible Beligan outfit, Spirit Catcher. Having developed a fearsome reputation for impeccable house and disco for the likes of Simple, Freerange, 20:20 and Systematic, Spirit Catcher are a perfect fit for remix duties here. Slowly building from tight loops and clipped melodies the Spirit Catcher remix of Miles Away gently unfolds into a Moog-fuelled slice of electronic funk which presents the airy vibes of the original mix in a fresh yet respectful way.
