Christian Smith's Tronic imprint takes a darker turn with the 'Maschine' collaborative 12" from Sebrok & Tassilo this spring. Tresor resident Sebrock and Pan Pot's Tassilo Ippenberger is a formidable pairing, with both artists having gained respect for their work from industry and fans alike. Octopus label owner and sometime Pokerflat, Soma and Bedrock artist, Sian, is also thrown into the mix as a remixer so there's much to look forward to with this two tracker. 'Maschine', in it's original form, is a menacing affair built around steady, repetitive stabs which are underpinned with occasional, one hit bass stabs which further up the moody purposefulness of the track. Drenched in reverb and with just a smattering of carefully placed effects and drops, 'Maschine' is an unashamed slice of contemporary dancefloor techno and takes no prisoners. Sian's remix uses much of the orginal's heavily reverb'd tone, but treads an even more urgent path - building and layering to a crescendo of old school sounds.
