Ran by brothers Lucio and Giuseppe Carpentieri, Italian imprint Malatoid has made quite an impression on the electronic music landscape since its conception back in 2008. Having fostered a host of precocious talents and gained feedback from some of the biggest players in the scene, theyve also found time to release music at a staggering rate. They celebrate their 100th release in a manner that befits all thats come before too, with Malatoid 100 a four-track affair featuring a bevy of label stalwarts.
First up on the EP is a joint effort from label boss Lucio and his sometime production sidekick, Mario Ruggiero. Warm and deep - yet sturdy and rugged - Tips and Tricks shakes with all the ferocity of a present day Kerri Chandler record, while its many flourishing synth lines are sure to move the proverbial dance floor.
Space Panorama boss D.Kowalski then turns in a cosmic tinged effort, with Grooving, complete with its bumping bassline and barrage of astute claps, provides the packages most aptly groove-soaked moments.
Liebbas almost trance-tinged Ananas Plus is another catchy number, with its underbelly of white noise matched only by its morphing synths and infectious bassline. The labels unpredictable nature and penchant for eclectic sounds then comes to the fore via Gery Otis Armonix Step, a record that demands attention via its steely percussion and various off-kilter ramblings. Heres to another century of cracking releases.
