For many months, I see the Versatile studio back into whole analog mess : cables lying around everywhere, old samplers have resumed service, weird design machines resurfaced, the computer is relegated to a corner ... With this "Mérovingienne ep", I: Cube arrives at the synthesis (final?). The influences are there, seminal: mental techno and creepy funk mate to give birth to sublimes bastards. A dirty sound, and chiseled structures, which reveal a little more each listening. My ritual when Nicolas gives me his songs, it's to delay the time when, my earphones on my head, late at night, I listen ... and hear. So many years after his "3", I:Cube latest album, a new LP is in preparation, this time for sure! The form it will take will surprise you, no doubt....An me also... But it is not what we want ? So to wait, these three sublimes songs that I have the honor, pride and pleasure to publish on Versatile ... The huge records speak for themselves ... and each individually. Gilbert Cohen
