Our fourth release ?Liz Taylor & The Thrill? is their hommage to their big love, their source of inspiration, disco and blues. The outcome is Semester Musik 004. A1: ?Liz Taylor? is like a journey through time back to the late 70s, into the depth of the New Yorker underground, into the infamous Studio 54. You see yourself face to face with the dark beauty Liz Taylor, the disco queen. The smart samples and the warm groove are an affectionate flirt with the last true Hollywood diva. This deep house, disco track lets Liz Taylor resurrect in all her seductive wickedness. A2: With Sasse we got the King of Disco for an Old School remix. He gives the track a bold bassline, minimalistic simplicity of 808 claps, hypnotic strings, and a playful self-ironic twinkle of his eye with calypso sound piano syncopes that turn the track into an Old School 80s classic. A3: We lean back, ?The Thrill is over?, everything floats ? soft, fluent, light. Then the track becomes deeper. Subtle, earthy drums come upon the dark and heavy warmth of a tuba, above it all a black voice, full of soul and abyss, that sings the track in hypnotic repitition towards the climax. Nhan Solo & Daniel Dexter let filigree sounds fly through the track in an infinite loop. It becomes a promise for the next, the ultimate thrill. A4: Spencer Parker & Ian Pooley ? these two are an explosive blend. They made a peaktime track out of ?The Thrill?. From the first couple of measures on, hi-hats push the beat towards the zenith ? restless, breathless, merciless. The thrill isn't over, it's close, it hangs within your grasp throughout the track until it's caught by the warm bass and scooped down to the dancefloor. A5: Only someone like Ian Pooley who is in it since decades now controls the old school of house music in such an artistic manner. Pooley did what he is cherished and known for: a remix made only with analogue instruments, with organic-syncopal piano chords full of warmth, funk elements, and a dubby bass. We simply love him!!!
