Fresh Meat is proud to announce the success of its first live experiment! On November 21st 2009 our agents Mazi Namvar and Justin Long A.K.A. Wasted Chicago Youth deployed to the Smart Bar on an assignment of audio mass destruction. The mission was to return to grass roots and apply guerrilla techniques in recording two DJ mixes that would exclude any artificial intelligence. This recording would not compromise Human for the Machine.
The manifesto was to capture the synergy between music selector and music enthusiast while lost in the vortex of 'Party'. Due to the growing infestation of computer programs that are too often abused in the DJ booth, many ears have been robbed of sonic colors that come from the hands of bona fide audio painters -- technicians mixing in phase and accessing primitive sub-processes in the brain to connect subconsciously with the House Mother Beat.. Justin and Mazi's blueprint was to use two turntables, a Funktion One sound system and a mixer while armed with an arsenal of music from the likes of Traxx, Nathan Drew Larsen, Spencer Parker, DJ Sneak, M.in, Bearweasel, Marc Romboy, Kink, Kris Wadsworth, Michal Ho, Brett Johnson, Dyed Soundorom, Shonky and other phonic soldiers. Microphones were judiciously placed around the venue to seize the rapture of the crowd.
On the night all elements fell into place. While biological life forms fused together in dance; emotion and audio were captured successfully. The mission was accomplished!
Now Fresh Meat presents the results of that experiment in four iterations. First, all separate tracks used in the mix are made available in full DJ friendly glory in two volumes. Next we present The Mixes complete with room ambiance and crowd jubilation. Finally we have the iTunes exclusive Bonus Edition which includes twenty nine selections from the mix and both sets in their entirety. Wasted Chicago Youth fighting audio crime one gig at a time!
