Back in November, burgeoning producer Jade Blue shared a tantalizing deep house collaboration with teenaged duo Frequency, and it quickly came to the attention of some of the scene's top names. One such name was London bass duo Koven, who posted the tune to their Facebook page; another was red-hot UK label Black Butter, who signed the tune, inducting both producers into its illustrious roster of artists. Titled Lately, the original mix is set to be released on March 17 alongside an instrumental edit and B-side by Jade called Moving Away.
Lately is a swooning deep house gem, adorned with esoteric effects, sultry vocal samples, and an arresting groove. A resonant sub-bass motif provides the foundation for the entire tune, while a subtle organ and pitch-shifted vocal deliver enough musicality to give Lately a high replay quotient. These elements, coupled with an array of drum sequences, makes for a lean dancefloor experience perfectly suited to Black Butter's gilded catalog of music.
