With this split EP, Cocoon starts a new series of 10-inch releases, presenting young and promising talents within the elctronic dance music scene to a wider public. The first release comes from a surprising team: the Briton Matt Tolfrey can already look back upon a small list of releases on Crosstown Rebels and his own label Leftroom and gained reputation as a DJ in such famous clubs like London's Fabric and The Egg. Together with the Munich-based Contexterrior artist Inxec, Tolfrey convinces the listener with a tight US House stomper, whose hypnotic vocals almost remind of the old Wild Pitch tracks, even though containing a much more contemporary rhythm frame. The flipside remains with the Irish-born former Mixmag journalist Gavin Herlihy, who lives in Berlin for two years now, and had already a veritable club hit with his debut EP "Machine Ate My Homework" on Sasse Lindblad's Moodmusic label. "Collect" thrives from its central motif somewhere in between carribbean steel drums and classic percussion that immediately clings to your acoustic memory and makes every dancefloor swing, under guarantee.
