Funk is a music genre that originated in the mid-late 1960s when African American musicians blended soul music, jazz and RandB into a rhythmic, danceable new form of music. Funk de-emphasizes melody and harmony and brings a strong rhythmic groove of electric bass and drums to the foreground. Funk songs are often based on an extended vamp on a single chord, distinguishing it from RandB and soul songs centered around chord progressions. Like much African-inspired music, funk typically consists of a complex groove with rhythm instruments such as electric guitar, electric bass, Hammond organ, and drums playing interlocking rhythms. Funk bands sometimes have a horn section of several saxophones, trumpets, and in some cases, a trombone, which plays rhythmic "hits". Many of the most famous bands in the genre also played disco and soul extensively. Funk music was a major influence on the development of disco music and afrobeat, and funk samples have been used extensively in genres including hip hop, house music and drum and bass. It is also the main influence of go-go, a subgenre associated with funk. (wikipedia) In 2011 Taste T goes back to the roots and produced an EP like homage to funk music. Funkadelic was one of the main funk tracks performed by George Clinton in 1964 and its the opener of this EP. An outstanding House track full of funk drums and a real funky guitar mixed up with a massive groove that kicks your ass. The second track of the EP is dedicated to another huge funk band: Parliament is a groovy tech-house track that contains a funky horn section. One of Taste T. favorites Bands is Sly and the family stone. So naturally that The Family Stone is dedicated to them. The Family Stone is the deepest track of the Ep. The groove is build up from many vocal, guitar, organ and drum phrases witch has no sense standing alone but fix together to the ultimate groove. Taste T is a musician, producer and DJ from Mannheim/Germany. His first release was in 1999. 2004 he founded together with Gorge and Nick Curly Amused and 8 Bit. Today hes the head of amusedrecords and produces with Steffen Baumann and Sonic.
