German born Hasan Mogol began to appear on stage at Jugendzentrum club of his hometown at the age of fourteen with his mixes of contemporary hip-hop sounds. His decision to relocate to Turkey in 2001 for formal educational purposes would later on prove to be an artistically enriching experience as he acquainted himself with the rather oriental beats, which are profoundly harmonic and enchanting. He still continues his education at Hacettepe University in Ankara. 4 tracks from Hasan, so lets start with the title track Gedankenzirkus, an energetic deep voyage, with its alluring filtered stabs that open up, while organ like hits overlay and an effected speech add more depth whilst retaining a punchy feel throughout. The sole remix on this EP is from French veteran Art Of Tones who's been making music since 1997, who's fans include Francois Kervorkian and Laurent Garnier and has released on labels including 2020 Vision, Freerange, Compost Black, Brique Rouge and Music Man to name a few. The Art Of Tones remix of Geankenzirkus is oozing of quality, keeping the roots housey, but adding bleeps, phattening up the bass and giving the mix a nice shuffley edge. A very tasty remix indeed. Back to the original tracks, and Highhats with its hypnotic deep vibe, that grows with warm layers and subtle melodics, retaining energy while keeping it deep. Nachthimel is next, and Hasan Mogol again teasing us with subtle melodies, adding warmth with piano sounds and deep bass notes meeting a crisp percussion structure making this a journey for your mind and your feet.Closing the Ep Black takes us on a deep housey affair, restrained yet a shuffler, while the melodies float in, perfect for terraces this summer.
