Last year James Watt and his colleague Dan Berkson entered quasi from nowhere with releases on poker flat the minimal-house stage. The tracks were also welcomed with enthusiasm on the meerestief-camp, and one could win the Londoner over pretty quickly for a fantastic remix of Daniela Stickroth's ''Stories from the attic EP''. After a short release pause there is going to be out on meerestief with ''Follicle'' the first James Watt single at all. „Follicle“ is as an original a nearly 8 minute trip in its best meerestief manner, and sounds the limits of minimalistic sound shape wholeheartedly. The tune accelerates pretty quickly with its displosive kicks and tight structure of rhythm. The deep bass sounds give the countless variations on clicks, particles of sounds, melodies and flats the hold on the dancefloor.¶As a remixer there was bound with Tom Clark a real Berlin Tech-House primary rock. For more than seven years, Clark contributes with his label Highgrade Records to the sound of the capital. His adaptation of ''Follicle'' appears more stringent and cooler than the original and it is dancefloor pure. With the impulsive ''Techno Sirene'' as hook Clarks transforms the typical Berlin underground sounds from the 90ies, represented by labels like e.g. Cabinet, into modern times.
