The 13th release on Cid Inc's Replug imprint sees the highly up and coming Ukranian producer Salt N Sugar teaming up with Enformig for their debut EP on the label. Salt N Sugar has already achieved some success early on with their 'Concentrate' single which was played by John Digweed to thousands of party goers at Moonpark in December of 2010. 'Fiolent' leads the EP off with a warm and all encompassing bottom end which has an angry growl about it that sets a sinister tone early. As Salt N Sugar's unique sounds begin to take shape you can feel a brooding monster brewing. A remarkably spaced out drop with a veritable wasteland of squelches and ultra processed sounds give way for the electric chords changes and pulsating low end frequencies that fade back in to construct a spine tingling finale. The accompanying piece 'Maritime' begins with a similar and equally profound deep vibe. The bassline is literally gut wrenching and as a haze of scattered electronics build in intensity the effects are truly mesmerising. As the hypnotic momentum grows the atmospheric tension escalates almost in perfect unison towards the drop. As the hypnotic refrains grow during the break the ominous vibe is only enhanced as it leads to a moody yet uplifting finale that is emotionally exhilarating.
