Having been a part of the extended Hypercolour family since his classic 'Deport This' and 'Mainline' releases in 2008/9, it was only a matter of time before Kris Wadsworth returned to the label. And so it is that the Atlanta born, now Berlin based bad boy finds himself on Hypercolour's bijou off shoot, HypeLTD, with two new tracks entitled 'Fingerprint' and 'Fan Mail'. Since his first outing, Wadsworth has stretched his sonic legs to craft a continually raw and attitude laced brand of house and techno on labels like Morris Audio, One records and Get Physical, but these two new tracks might be some of his most arresting and engaging music yet. 'Fingerprint' is a slowly building melange of nerve tingling analogue lines that jangle above slow yet punchy, steely and chugging drums. Wringing the most out of every synth, sounds twist and writhe before your very ears as the beats build in stature. Full of industrial decay and late night urban isolation, it's an uncompromising exploration; an epic set builder. 'Fan Mail' is another ten-minute track that needs its full length to unfold. A hulking great kick drum sets the tone early on, where warmer air streams flow between found sound percussion and the overtly sexual exhalations of a ghostly female. (A ghostly female who was chasing Kris, presumably for some rumpy-pumpy. Accordingly, our Kris did his thing and got her getting all frisky and touchy feely (with herself!) and thus recorded the results of her great pleasure and included them on this track. The girl in question knows and is more than OK with it. ) Taking big, strident, mechanical steps, the percussion beings to coalesce into something that sounds like a distant relative of the aforementioned 'Mainline'. Itchy hi hats bring some up down movement to the forward treading beats and gentle piano chords add some recognisable human emotion, with the resulting groove impossible to ignore and more than worthy of their place on this cherished sub label.
