Some of you should be familiar with the work of Rupert ‘Xxxy’ Taylor by now. Over a series of impressive releases he has created quality bass-driven hybrids with a consummate ease.
Here we present arguably his most accessible EP to date and fittingly on a label that prizes vibes and passion over cold innovation. Well crafted heaters in other words ;)
Lead track ‘Everything’ ‘s cut-up vocals lend an almost gospel fervour to this 4/4 garage gem. Synths and pianos trade roles to awesome effect as the track reaches an intensely happy climax. Simultaneously heads down and hands in the air, this inspires much rejoicing on the dancefloor.
This is beautifully paired with ‘I Know This Can’t Be Love’. Building around a modest break the business end assembles itself. Positioned on top, pads, piano and vocal create a transporting vibe that is both melancholy and euphoric. In the words of the mighty U-Roy “who feels it, knows it”.
All words aside, this music states it’s own case for maximum support.
