ASC aka Intex Systems should be no stranger to those subscribing to the Offshore ethos. This record marks his 6th appearance on Offshore and his 2nd full 12". With releases on his own label, Covert Operations, and the likes of Good Looking and Inperspective, ASC is definitely one of the most underrated producers in Drum & Bass. We consider this 12" his strongest material yet! “Drum Track 3 (Heatsink)” marks the third and final installment in the “Drum Track” series, which started back at OSR003. The track progresses in various movements- a mechanized breakdown leads into warehouse inspired bleeps and blips layered over a snappy break that minimizes itself midway through with the introduction of a new bass-line. Once things roll out for a bit, tension builds back into a culmination of all three parts. ASC transcends categories with this track- the best we can come up with is sci-fi, warehouse inspired, space jam! “Fresh” pays homage to 80’s Hip-hop and Electro. Not only does it posses a similar rawness to “Drum Track 3”, but it’s unmistakable rhythm and thick beats are entirely original in today’s D & B game. Based around a dirty analog bassline, ASC combines lush pads and crafty edits, then sprinkles it with samples of a Hip Hop MC. He creates a sound so unique that we can only describe it as…‘fresh’! This 12” guarantees converts to the doctrine of ASC!
