A new talent on the international scene, Emerson Todd has been making a name for himself for over 10 years in the southern hemisphere. Starting out in NZ as one half of House Of Downtown - who produced 2 full length albums and a film score - Todd relocated to Australia in 2003 and shifted his focus towards audio engineering, spending years afterwards travelling back and forth between the 2 countries for his various DJ residencies and studio commitments. In 2008, armed with a new readiness to step into the solo spotlight for the first time, Todd achieved this in spectacular fashion when his track ‚Rumpelstiltskin’, reached halfway around the globe and snagged a release with Claude VonStroke’s Dirtybird label, and this was followed by a coveted spot at the helm of a Resident Advisor podcast. Emerson is now based in UK. Emerson Todd’s profile is set to rise rise further still in 2009 when the good ‚Dr. Jurd’ makes a house call, courtesy of his Get Physical debut EP. The title track’s driving house grooves pulsate with infectious tribal rhythms and cut-up vocal samples, before evolving into sleek, synth-driven tech-house. ‚Jacob’ is a living, breathing dancefloor monster. Rhythmic breath sounds and a wickedly fat, melodic bassline hold this track together.
