Although you may not have realized it, Anjunadeep has been keeping your CD wallets well-stocked with Johan Vermeulen moments over the last 8 months. As Interplay (and alongside Electrobios), his ‘With You’ track hit the back of the prog net in March. And that was only after his Chunk & Twist ‘Battery Life’/‘The UK Sound’ double-whammy dislodged more than its share of few floor-tiles last December. For his latest offering, Johan has rolled away the pseudonyms to record under his own name and a right couple of scorchers he’s turned out too! ‘Do Not Cross’ uses intricate percussion and beat programming, zipping, ripping, speaker-testing sounds, all brought to a tense crowd-pleaser of a climax. Flip it over (or, probably more accurately, press the ‘next track’ button!) and you’ll find the housed-up styling’s of ‘Infected’. Coolly crafted bass and a nagging early synth melody both set about feeding the floor with a big ‘heads-down’ moment, before the tweaking, bleeping mainline takes control!
