One can be young and yet have not much to prove any more. A rare breed though, if you exclude the quick burning 'sensations of the month' that everybody will soon have forgotten. Kill the DJ have never bet on the ephemeral: if the name 'Clement Meyer' has been popping more and more these days, the young buck has, him, something to back the hype. With his partner Micky, he runs one of the best electronic website around, 'Get The Curse', also bringing quality music to the young Parisian crowd with their eponymous party and label. Clement's djing is something special, Ivan Smagghe (not the most impressionable taste around) considering them as the brightest hopes around, already too mature and original to be 'a protege'. The same can be said about Clement's production: it refuses the conformisms of the day to favour a dark electronic funk, championed by many, from Lord Weatherall himself to Simian Mobile Disco, Ewan Pearson to Roman Flugel. Following his remix of RMVN, we are pleased to give you a full 12" by this wonder-kid, a fresh addition to our deadline serie. 'Romper Stomper' has been a constant figure in Ivan Smagghe's set for a year now, not a night without someone 'what the hell this tune was'. A mean piece of funk. 'See no Evil' pushes the groove into its darkest corners, 'Nobody Sleeps' confirming that we've got here a real solid style in the making.
