Poland-based producer Bastian Salbart is definitely an up and coming name to watch out for. Born in 1993 when many of the more established producers of the scene were starting out, he is perhaps the youngest artist so far to appear on our roster. Having already had his music released on a handful of respectable European labels, the 'Cosmic Distance EP' on Deepblue is sure to give you a taste of the undisputed musical talent he has to offer for the future. The EP comprises of 2 quality tracks, 'Mystic Night' and title track 'Cosmic Distance'- together with a top new remix from Smart Apes. Mystic Night will perhaps be the most immediate of the tracks for some DJs. Blending the many varied influences which go in to create Bastian's unique sound, the track is a well crafted fusion of chunky production, tough proggy grooves, skippy beats and a dark bassline which continue to build before falling into an atmospheric break as a simple but catchy Eastern sounding melody emerges into the peak. On a more laid back tip, the progressive-edged original mix of 'Cosmic Distance' is a lovely track awash with atmosphere and gorgeously warm melodies which perhaps would not sound out of place within a film soundtrack. Shortlisted for the latest Ministry Of Sound 'Trance Nation' album we're sure this will one of those "dark horse" tunes which could become a favourite with many for some time to come. To complement the original and hot on the heels of their recent hit 'Vanilla Sky', the ever reliable Smart Apes takes things up a gear and provide a superb remix with their inimitable production before twisting into big room synth stabs to bring the track in its second half. As a bonus, the 'Alt Guitar Mix' of 'Mystic Night' has also been included in the package. In a similar vein to the original mix this for those who like it slightly more dubby and minimal, focusing more on the tough skippy groove before finally dropping into a balaeric flavoured accoustic moment for those Summer floors.
