A sneaky gaze follows the unsuspecting through the dark corridors of unforgiving places. The sun has vanished and the moon illuminates the sky above the tragic fields. The child of the night, Moonface, is the man of the hour. A mad scientist or sorts, he craftily composes Clever Eyes for the Tulipa movement. Full of twisted experiments and energetic surprises, he delights us with this rare glimpse into his dark mind.
Moonface strikes the horizon with Lakes Mate. The perfect opener, this track rolls forward on warm synths placed atop punchy sweetness, swinging syncopation, and slushy hats. Throughout Lakes Mate, moments are accented with unexpected sounds that are unique to Moonface's masterful production style. The second track Yes Bond is a classic foray into the world of quirky techno. Yes Bond satisfies the ears of those with a refined taste in futuristic electronic music. The bass swells underneath arpeggiated bleeps and moaning synths, capturing a special moment in the present era of techno. Track three Get Down is a warped story destined to melt the hearts of lonely neighbors. The tune bubbles and vaporizes as its acidic elements squelch those in its vicinity. Get Down finalizes the EP in one last, gut-wrenching breath.
It is fair to say that Moonface has retuned to detonate the status quo of the modern-day electronic community. Clever Eyes is a colorful journey that emphasizes a style not often found: off-kilter, brazen music confidently constructed for the dance floor. Moonface captures a sound with Clever Eyes that resonates deeply within the core of the Tulipa Recordings sound, making him the newest innovator working closely with the label
