Legendary producer Marc Kinchen (known for the hits “Burning” and “Always”) returns to house music after a 10-year hiatus, with two new remixes for Jay Haze’s single “Can’t Forget”. The track, a remake of the Mr. Lee hit on Trax Records, was one of the highlights from Jay’s album Love & Beyond, receiving heavy play from DJs like M.A.N.D.Y, Luciano and Johnny D. Jay was thrilled when he was able to convince Marc to dust off his MK alias to create these fabulous new versions. And by doing so, Jay jump-started an MK resurgence: Defected also asked Kinchen for remix work, and most recently Movement (Detroit’s Electronic Music Festival) invited him to perform live in May for their 10-year celebration. In these reinterpretations, MK takes the paranoid tone of D:exter’s vocals and highlights them with cold chimes that waver freely throughout the atmosphere, superimposing them over a stomping, straightforward beat. It’s apparent that his interim work with contemporary luminaries like Will Smith and Celine Dion has influenced his new approach. Kinchen himself has stated that these tracks will be huge hits for 2009. Don’t question a man who’s remixed Elton John and RuPaul! takedown from label dh
