Anthony Attalla Bump Dump Hump Great Stuff Recordings Sometimes there's just no point fannying around. American producer Anthony Attalla's new jam for Germany's Great Stuff Recordings, the aptly titled Bump Dump Hump, takes just such a direct course of action to great effect. From the first second of the track, your speakers are filled with funk-fuelled energy, undulating swathes of deep bass pumping already with a rather disco-like intent. The percussion also suggests nouveau filter house, but as the track develops, layers of techy weight are added via stabs and looping vocals to create a huge slice of funky techno with plenty of sting in its tail. Huge builds lead to great pay-offs in this track, the monumental drops best served with a large slice of ice cannon. Seriously big stuff. If you haven't suffered a heart attack by this point, Italy's Uto Karem lies in wait with his pumping take on the proceedings. He injects yet more vigour into the beats and offers a more mischievous bassline, yet tempers the other elements of the track to leave a more groove-focused, rolling alternative.
