Silk Sofa is happy to welcome back Canadian artist Blue Neptune, who first appeared on the label with the "Personal Heaven" release. ("Crash and Burn", one of the songs on this release, was selected as the intro track for the first installment of Proton's "Mixed" series.) First up on the new EP is "Angel", with its vast amount of incredibly lush pad layers. This track is an exceptional journey through space - and just when you think the track has reached its textural zenith, more elements bring the atmosphere to greater heights. The title track, "Black Rain", slowly builds to form a soothing soundscape. A slow violin-esque melody enters the game later, and around mid-track, a deep synth stab makes its entrance, rendering the song even more stimulating. Finally, "No Fear" starts out with a gorgeous deep atmosphere, with wind-simulating textures on top. A bended bell sound as well as a smooth and captivating synth riff create a fine texture on top of the fairly low drum kick.
