Monoloc is back on his label Smallroom Music with another outstanding release. “Black Pot” features two proper tracks and a remix by the French producer Jan Hendez. Both of them stand for an independent and surprising sound with carefully chosen organic and electronic elements. The title track is slightly more straightforward than former productions, still remaining true to the rawness and unpredictability of Monoloc´s style. In “Black Pot” he sticks to his more linear and obscure Minimal-Techno roots in an inspired and efficient way. Due to growing production skills he is exploring deeper and more complex sonic environments and fills them with his very own blend of sounds and noises. The remix by Jan Hendez is a more uplifting, almost funky approach to the track and makes a perfect match. In the imaginative drum programming and faultless production you can feel his percussionist roots as much as his experiences as a floor filling dj and live act. “Mogue” shows another side of Monoloc´s characteristic sound. It contains mesmerizing spoken words, hypnotic sequences and haunting melodies, which seem to originate from ancient times. The combination of the harmonic elements with the elegant and gentle drumming, create this very special, almost dramatic atmosphere he is known for. Smallroom Music continues with the good work. This is definitely one of those truly versatile and absorbing releases that should not go by unnoticed.
