Audioflys Supernature label welcomes into the fold Zev of Wolf & Lamb with his Betta Days EP.
Arguably 2010s hottest name, Wolf & Lamb has become a force of nature in electronic music with a string of cross-genre releases from their deftly curated label and amazing parties worldwide. Zev, alongside W&L co-owner Gadi Mizhari, has become synonymous with quality and this debt EP for Supernature shows why.
Alright is a track that sounds like little else out there but its warming vibe and clever touches make it seem nicely familiar. Its folksy licks, brutal snares, chopped breaks and ethereal r&b vox are all combined with the sort of alchemic skill that has made the Wolf & Lamb outfit so exciting.
The magic continues with the stomping yet incredibly beautiful Thats All an uptempo disco-house cut which, in one fell swoop, snatches back memories of the summer without the faintest hint of wintery cynicism.
The title track closes the triumvirate of originals and does so with a mournful, introspective feel released through nagging piano stabs and an array of rich, paddy synths. Things are kept rolling with sporadic live drum fills and a relentless kick which just add to the hypnotic and engaging feel which is so expertly used.
Romanian producer and Supernature mainstay Ali Nasser delivers interpretations of Thats All and Alright, and does a fine job in twisting them into futuristic deep house cuts which are as unique sounding as the originals.
