this release of his is so good! For me it is one of the best this year and certainly a surprise to see this kind of sound on Tresor. Id love to do an EP for the label; if youre up for it?There are not many artists in the Techno world that are passionate enough to personally pen an email to the office of Tresor Records admitting their love for a record and requesting the opportunity to release alongside it. But when Vince Watson wrote to us shortly after hearing the Future Beat Alliance record Machines Can Help we knew this was how we wanted to continue; working with good, honest artists that believe in Solidarity and releasing alongside music they love. So it gives us a great amount of pleasure to introduce the Atom EP, the debut Vince Watson release on Tresor Records. There arent many UK artists like Vince Watson. Coming on like a Techno Renaissance man he cites Hip Hop, lessons at the Royal Academy of Art and Music and Drama in Glasgow as the impetus into his music career. This spectrum of expressional art-forms informs the music nicely. It is arguably Techno, and is often musical in the traditional sense, but it is rarely the same, which is rare in Dance Music. It is undoubtedly this unique disposition that grabbed Dave Angels attention back in 1995 when he signed him to Rotation Records. From there names like Ibadan, Alola and Delsin records all lay a claim to Vince Watsons unique take on Techno and now Tresor joins the list, with the release of the Atom EP.The title track kicks off the EP, coming on very much like the names suggests, a mass of positive and negatively charged elements spinning around one another in a naturally organized orchestra of sound. Up next is Flux, which is a much harder affair and less musical then its predecessor. But at 08:55 it is an opus of ambience and melodicey with swirling synths held together by a driving bass line. Lastly we come to Kaleidoscope the EPs closing track, which is an immediate response to the hardness of Flux! Lush in sonics, soft in rhythm and often cinematic in arrangement, the perfect closer, to the perfect introduction of new Tresor Records artist Vince Watson.
