Having earned his stripes releasing a series of standout EPs for revered labels like Dirtybird, Sound Pellegrino and Deadfish, UK via Rome DJ and producer Stefano Ritteri, AKA Solo, is ready to unveil the inaugural release on his own brand new label, Congaloid. The Alki Bamba EP sees him join forces with fellow Italian duo The Deepshakerz, AKA Berardino & Sonatore, whose eclectic approach to production provides the perfect foil for Solo. The eponymous track encompasses everything that makes their music so fresh, vital and unique, imbued with both an unquestionable sonic and rhythmic mastery and an uncanny understanding of how to move a club, all viewed through a skewed lens and with a wry smile - Alki Bamba cuts a b-line straight for the dance floor. Building layers of tribal percussion around the 4x4 rhythmic skeleton they create an unshakeable groove that effortlessly carries the track on its carnival spirit. As the track evolves, melodic elements rise up out of the percussion to lead the track with a hypnotic hook line, supplemented by the repeated vocal chants. Another Italian production duo join the fold on remix duties with Doomwork putting their individualistic spin on Alki Bamba. Rounding off a busy 2011 for the duo following releases on 100%% Pure, Audiomatique Recordings and their own Retouch Recordings imprint, the duo bring their prodigious talents to Congaloid, providing the perfect counterpoint to the original. Retaining the flow of the track's percussive drive, they re-imagine it as a lithe club track. Letting the vocals melt into the distance, the track is driven by a sleek shuffle and the propulsion of the fluid synth stabs that they introduce.
