Releaseinfo:
Finally Hypercolour roll into their 5th year this Oct, and Laurie Shenoda has been there from day dot. A serious groove crafter, and an integral member of the Hypercolour family, we are both excited and proud to present to you 3 tracks from a producer who has really come of age. Not one to conform with standard deep house and techno sensibilities, Laurie has created his own unique strand of bass-heavy grooves. Anybody not convinced, do your research and check out his B.A.G remix on Hypercolour09, that became an after-hours anthem at many a disused warehouse and dark basement in London town. The EP kicks off with the title track 'Shots', a male soul singer lays down some heartfelt humming and leads into full harmony, poetically singing over a dubbed-out, flat muddy groove. Fluttered melodies of deep bass connects the vocal to the beats in a simple, yet effortless way. In 'Favourite' we fall back into the trademark Shenoda groove, moody, deep and with plenty of swing. A dark sultry male vox leans out of the track, and at the drop a deep acid bassline permeates the groove, blipping and glitching in all the right places. Summertime is just around the corner, and with that in mind, Shenoda treats us to a filtered disco influenced, bass-heavy roller in 'Finally', the vox here is both delayed and twisted, and is very reminiscent of early 'Roule Trax'. All in all, an impressive calling card from a master groove-smith.
