Nasra & Gaute is a collaboration project between percussionist Nasra Ali Omar and electronica artist Gaute Barlindhaug. Nasra Ali Omar is a crossover musician, and she prospers among a variety of genres and expressions, and combines unusual elements through improvisation and spontaneity. She also explores visual effects and expressions on stage. A firework of a percussionist! Nasra prefers to collaborate with performers, musicians and artists from various fields. She has done studio sessions and been part of various recordings both in and out of Norway. Nasra is now concentrating on a solo artist career within electronica, collaborating with Gaute Barlindhaug. Gaute Barlindhaug started out as member of the quartet Aedena Cycle, along with the Royksopp lads and Doc L Junior. He later continued his solo career, first under the name Aedena Cycle, later as Kolar Goi. He has also produced tracks for Rune Lindbak's project Alania, and has both been producer and live musician for Bel Canto. Nasra has been working with Gaute as a live musician before, but this collaboration project started out with the comissioned work "Computer Love" for the Festival of North Norway (Festspillene i Nord-Norge) in 2008. After a short string of live-shows, the duo locked themselves into the studio to rework the material into the album format. Tracks from the original Computer Love project has been expanded with newer material, a.o. tracks composed for the russian silent movie "The End Of St Petersburg". The end result is a refreshing electronica album, ranging from the floating Point Of No Return, via the electronica of Copper Threads, to the more dance floor oriented Plasmid.
