Please find just a taste of what we have to offer heading into this already fruitful year for dance culture....
Seth Troxler & Inxec - And It Was
- "And It Was" sees the pairing of two of the most hotly tipped names in the underground this year. In addition to cementing his name as one of the freshest minds in dance music with tracks showing experimentation built for the dance floor like Spectral Sound's "Panic, Stop Repeat" on through to jams as accessible as they are fresh like "Jus Your" on Wagon Repair and the fantastic remix of Fever Ray's "Seven" Seth Troxler has also fast become formidable force in the DJ world. Here he joins forces with Inxec... another name who has been making big waves in the past year both with his own productions and co-producing artists like Matt Tolfrey for labels ranging from Leftroom to Get Physical and Cocoon. Inxec has also made lot of noise raising the bar of the re-edit game as well boldly pumping imagination and fresh ideas into bona-fide classics like Ralph Falcon's "Whateva, Whateva, Whateva" and Green Velvet's "Flash". On "And it Was" these two deliver something that heading into Miami's 25th Anniversary of the Winter Music Conference recalls the dark, techno influenced house that was once the signature sound of Danny Tenaglia back in the 90's ..... yet it does this while sounding entirely "now". The ominous vocal in the middle warns "when you take it too far.... it becomes your friend". Yes it does.
Robbie Hardkiss - Get UP (Zev remix)
Robbie’s "Get Up" delves even further into his self-styled acid funk sound he made famous on Classic Recordings "Everything Is Changing". Armed with an incessant train-of-thought groove, Robbie’s own vocal call-outs playfully urge you to “get up…get your ass up off the couch” in between sung vocal urgency that only add to the pace. Is it Robbie or Prince on the mic? Zev of NYC's inimitable Wolf & Lamb has delivered what will prove be a timeless, spaced out re-work of the track for all tomorrow’s parties.
Second Hand Satellites - Orbit 1.2 (Previously Unreleased Digital Only mix)
Three and Sean Q6 produced what has become an underground sensation that somehow has never seems to reach it's peak of where it can go. Originally released in 2000 on the Hallucination Recordings imprint and then again in 2002 on Shaboom Recordings this record has continued to be played by everyone from Laurent Garnier, Doc Martin, Lee Burridge and Sven Vath since it's inception. In the past year alone new faces of the day like Seth Troxler, Ryan Elliot, D'Julz and Damian Lazarus continue to bring this record to new ears while legends like Ricardo Villalobos have made it a staple in their sets this winter. It was also recently featured on Loco Dice's NRK mix CD "the Lab" and the FUSE club in Belgium's "15 Years Fuse" in which "Orbit 1.4" is included in the clubs "Best of..." track listing alongside names like Carl Craig, Quadrant (Basic Channel) and Mathew Jonson. Here for the first time ever we offer the dubbed out percussion version simply known as Orbit 1.2 as a Beatport exclusive. Lo-fi never sounded so high.
Sycophant Slags - Dhamra Fields (Evil Eddie Richards Mix)
SImply put we are thrilled to present The Godfather of Tech-House on the mix of what we feel is Mr C & Adultnapper aka Sycophant Slags best work to date.... "Dharma Fields". Eddie takes the haunting melodies and what is now signature Sycophant Slags production "Dharma Fields" and really conjures up a moment on the dance floor. The groove doesn't quit as it leans into a acid-tinged tech house vibe while keeping the moodiness of the original in tact . One of the Slags' favorites and featured on Three's label mix CD Three : Hallucienda.
