Slam are on fire right now. After one of their busiest years ever in 2008, culminating in their BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix at the end of December, 2009 sees no let-up for the duo as they rampage their way to the top of house & techno once again. Ghost Song marks the first of 4 massive releases you can expect from Slam before the summer.
Opening the 12” is one of the most-respected DJs and producers around at the moment, Joris Voorn. With releases on Music Man, Sound Architecture, and Technasia’s Minimaxima, as well as his own label project, Green, Joris has developed an uncanny knack for producing beautiful, well-crafted, deep tech-house. His remix of Ghost Song is a refreshing take on the original, a crisp slice of Detroit-edged techno that has been setting the floors ablaze in Slam’s recent sets.
Although he has been producing since 2004, Prompt only fully came to light at the beginning of 2008 on his newly-established label 7Noise with Evolve, which was quickly picked up by Slam and selected for their Sci-Fi Hi-Fi mix. Since then Slam have been hammering every one of his releases, and have gone on to remix Evolve, so it’s only fitting that Prompt features here on the flip. His take on Ghost Song is a skippy, funk-riddled tech-house number that keeps the feet moving.
