Toronto via Montreal via Hamilton Canadian Jesse Morrison is better known in the house and techno
community as “ana+one” (pronounced Anatone). Microhouse, a niche genre largely overshadowed the
past few years by the explosion of minimal techno, has largely been a Canadian specialty. Following the
footsteps of fellow Canada born-and-bred production legends such as Akufen, Jeff Milligan, and Mike
Shannon, Morrison’s own brand of blips and bleeps are positioning his ana+one alias to make quite an
impact in 2009.
For his Siteholder UnCut debut (the 20th in the series and first release of ’09), Jesse delivers “Box of Do-
nuts,” “Second Time Around,” and “Talking Computron” (both the original and ATOM rework). All four
cuts remind us of vintage Akufen, but it’s also abundantly clear that ana+one is introducing a unique cut
and paste technique that combines the funkiness of house with modern techno.
The UnCut crew welcomes ana+tone to its ever-expanding roster, and hopes you will enjoy these
stripped down treats as much as we did the first time we gave the demo a listen.
