Bio:

Paul Loraine – Making a Difference... Quality always shines through and that's exactly the case with Paul Loraine. His current success as a DJ and producer is built on solid foundations which have provided the perfect springboard for him to develop a sound and style that is uniquely his own. 2011 is the year when several new projects will reach fruition and bring him to a global audience. After cutting his teeth as a DJ in London and then Guernsey, it was in Bristol where Paul began to make a name for himself with the launch of the Loco night in the summer of 2005. Loco brought the sound of underground techno to the city and gave Paul the chance to really flex his musical muscles. Guest DJs at Loco have included Peace Division, Carl Craig, Radio Slave, Jay Haze, Terry Francis, Tim Green, Funk D'Void, Slam, Silicone Soul, King Unique and Robert Babicz. Supported by BBC Radio 1, and praised by Mixmag and DJ Mag, Loco was a huge success and ran for over three years firmly establishing Paul's credentials as a DJ. Many DJs would have simply traded off the Loco name at this point, but in typical style, Paul decided to take a step back and concentrate on production. Never one for half measures, he immersed himself fully in the studio, only releasing music when he felt confident he had made something of value. The results have been pretty spectacular and since 2008 Paul has produced tracks and remixes for an array of underground electronic labels including Four:twenty, Soma, My Favorite Robot, Veryverywrongindeed, 1trax, Akbal, Lebensfreude, Foundation, Tonality, Slant and more. What makes a Paul Loraine production stand out from the pack is its depth of character. There's nothing formulaic or obvious about the music he makes, and he combines a keen sense of what works on the dancefloor with a strong emotional quality. It's a sound that has found favour with electronic music aficionados and leading DJs alike; Dubfire, Laurent Garnier, Hernan Cattaneo, Jamie Jones, Seth Troxler, Steve Lawler, Magda, Sven Väth, Luciano, Loco Dice, Claude VonStroke and Maceo Plex are among those who have incorporated Paul's tracks into their sets. Now based in Barcelona, Paul is involved in the city's vibrant techno scene and collaborating with members of the Common People collective. He will also be setting up his own label, Rhythm Cult, and has created the Re:Form guise for productions with more of a big room techno vibe. Demand for Paul's DJ services has grown as his productions gain support, and recent bookings include Mr C's Superfreq night at Le Tub in Calais and the beautiful open-air Wood venue in Brussels. As we go into the summer of 2011, Paul has a new series of releases ready to go. Following the success of his recent collaboration with Nadja Lind on 'Making a Difference' for Berlin-based label Lucidflow, the duo have remixed Funk D'Void's 'Shadow Over a Horde' and signed 'Flip a Coin' to the new 'We Love… Space Ibiza' compilation mixed by jozif. This will be available both in Ibiza and as a Mixmag cover CD, while all the individual tracks will be available from major download sites. Future releases include 'Dig Out' on Hot Potato featuring a Shaun Reeves & Tale Of Us Remix and singles for Vitalik, Electric Sheep, Bigger Deer and Richard Seeley's Glue Music under the MWA name with Robert Cashin. On the remix front, Paul's reworking of Jim Rivers's 'By Any Means' on Four:twenty Recordings was a major triumph, and he has commissions for Robert Owens, Silicone Soul and Helmut Ebritsch coming soon. There's also a collaboration with Vitalik resident Ryan O'Gorman on a remix of Maya Jane Coles's 'You' forthcoming on Hypercolour, as well as a collaboration with Richard Seeley (Rekids / Glue Music) under the guise of CDT Sedition DJs are proud to welcome Paul Loraine to our roster for DJ bookings worldwide. With such a body of work behind him, it's hardly surprising that Paul is being tipped for great things. As both DJ and producer, he brings a level of artistry to his music that distinguishes him as a major talent and the best is yet to come.
