Originally from Maryland, Magnus has called Seattle home for the past decade. His career began in 2002 performing around the Seattle area under the DJ name of “Magnus.” Between his “Magnus” and “Michael Lee” aliases, Magnus has releases across many labels including Discover, Pharmacy, JOOF, and most recently, Perfecto and Perfecto Fluoro. Magnus’s tracks have appeared on CD compilations by Armada, Perfecto, Ministry of Sound, and Moist Music, and have also ranked in the top 10 psytrance chart on Beatport multiple times. Magnus’s tracks been played on A State of Trance, Future Sound of Egypt, Rush Hour, Global Trance Grooves, and many more. In 2009, Magnus won the Sean Tyas Melbourne remix competition with his Michael Lee remix. More recently, Magnus has been working with Perfecto, releasing a Magnus Dub remix of I’m Alive by Paul Oakenfold and Infected Mushroom, as well as his original track, Velvet.Magnus has often been referred to as a crossover artist, combining the elements of both trance and psytrance, creating a unique, signature sound for which he has become known for.Magnus's first artist album, "Signal Strength", was released in May of 2011 on JOOF Recordings.
