DJ Ivan Melnik was born in a Grodno, Belarus. A small European city with a little over 300,000 inhabitants is responsible for this DJs humble roots. He began his training in the electronic music sphere as a young boy first experimenting with techno music on the turntables he bought for himself at age 13. Growing up during the surge of popularity of techno music in Europe - DJ Ivan Melnik curiosity was quenched by the very first techno vinyl record he ever listened to in 1999. His love for vinyl was forged in stone ever since. With the self diagnosis of 'turntablism', DJ Ivan Melnik from a young age continued his exploration of electronic music and with time began to favor the styles: Tech House Breaks, Electro, House andTechno. In 2001, at age 19, DJ Ivan Melnik received his first residency, at a club which at that time was Grodnois' newest and most popular venue, 'Kolizei2000'. In 2005 he released first mix CD, "House Mix 2005" on the label Club Central. He released two more year end mixes in 2006 ('Windmill') and 2007 ('Feel Good'). In addition to providing music for the cities biggest events during those years. As time progressed and he began to gain recognition, DJ Ivan Melnik helped to bring the top djs from England, Germany, Japan, Russian, Ukraine, Poland, and Holland to play at the venues in Belarus. In 2006 he helped put together a project called "DJ Extra - Life in the City". In 2006 he also played at Gronois' "Klubnika 2006-2007" festival, he left the festival with the 'Best DJ of the Festival' award. Later that year the festival was nominated and won for best electronic show of the year on the website www.clublife.ru. In 2007 Dj Ivan Melnik was offered his 7th consecutive year of residency at club "Kolizei2000", this time DJ IM turned it down wanted to dedicate more of his time to producing music for his first album release. On April 1st, 2008, DJ Ivan Melnik along with another popular Belarusian artist DJ Noble founded and began teaching at what till this day remains Grodnois' most successful DJing Academy. In the Spring of 2009 he releases his debut album "Airport Wars" on the English label'Istoma'. Soon after adventure once again came calling and DJ Ivan Melnik took his young talents stateside. Within the first months of his NYC nightlife invasion he played at venues like: 'Greenhouse', 'Dream Hotel', 'Tavern on the Green', 'Dream Hotel', 'The Time Hotel', 'MPD', a friday night residency at Bryant Park Hotels' 'the Cellar Bar', PACHA (NEW YORK CITY) and more. In March 2010 he was invited to play at WMC Miami one of the biggest festivals of the year which features DJs from over 75 different countries worldwide. After WMC he released his first stateside remix for DJ ID CRUST on the track "Bass Breathing (DJ Ivan Melnik Breaks Mix)", which was featured on a compilation released by Metronix Recordings WA. Currently DJ Ivan Melnik continues his takeover of the NYC nightlife cofounding the an event company called DS Group NYC. Their main goal is to bring European style atmosphere to NYC clubs combining refreshing tach house/ techno music with crowd stunning special effects.
