Holly-J is a 24 Year Old DJ/Producer now based in Melbourne after moving over from a small NZ town called Wanganui at the start of 2006. With an "I'll show these boys how it's done" kind of attitude she has strived to make a name for herself in this overly male dominated scene.Holly-J is one of Melbourne’s most well-known female DJ’s with her obvious need for perfection and keen ear making her sets tightly mixed and pleasing to any crowd. Her love for playing bouncy electro and dutch- house style music, keeps the partygoers glued to the dancefloor. Holly has been deemed as ‘The Queen of the Underground’, holding weekly residency at some of Melbourne’s hottest musical institutions, Wah Wah Lounge and Sorry Grandma. Her following has spread rapidly with the Wah Wah podcast, broadcasting her mixes worldwide, wit h over 300,000 downloads in t he past year. Since the success of these mixes Holly has branched out with her own podcast, including her live mixes and radio shows which has been constantly sitting within the Top 10 ‘Most Downloaded Podcasts’ oniTunes.Her music production started as a way to make the sets she played different from the other DJ's around, with edits, remixes and bootlegs being her specialty and shining through in all of her sets.Holly-J’s original track "Bubbah" was signed to Generation Records, which included a remix package from Heath Renata, Momo and Trav. Her next original track to be signed was "The Tease", being released t hrough Dogma Records (It aly) and included on t he ‘Dogma Party Volume 1’ compilation CD. She teamed up with talented young Melbourne Based producer Stevie Mink, to remix T-Rek’s dynamite track, ‘Out My Bit ch’. This reached nat ional acclaim having been signed through Ministry Of Sound, peaking at #1 on the Aria Charts within the first week and consistently holding the top ten for 16 weeks. ‘The Devil Claps’ collaboration with Stevie for T-Rek's next single, was also released through Ministry of Sound. This rose to #15 in the Beatport Electro Charts, hit #13 in the Aria Club Charts and also featured on the Ministry of Sound "On t he Download Sept 2010" compilat ion. 2012 will see several new releases hit Beatport, with remixes for The Kickstarts with “Inter Bustamante” through Orphan Music, “Royal Bass" "Because The Night" & “Circles” through Phethouse Records, as well as Holly-J’s new original “Bass Bitch” which will include remixes by The Kickstarts, Heath Renata & Juicy.Holly-J has enlisted support from iconic DJs such as Angy Kore, The Kickstarts, Ton!c, Phil Kieran, Monkey Safari, Jayyfresh, Rob Pix & Uberjak’d.
